YOU KNOW IT'S SUMMER WHEN...

 

...the festival season in Laguna Beach begins. And this is the week! Preview nights for Sawdust Art Festival, Art-A-Fair and the Pageant of the Masters make for a busy week.

Planning has taken place often for months as readiness varies among individuals. I found myself oddly blessed to be house-bound with Covid, which gave me many hours of art play in March/April that I might not otherwise have had. I wasn't sick...just kept getting positive tests so, with nothing better to do I played and played. And of course my crow friends showed up often in that play.

WHAT DO YOU THINK?

I am currently working on spring cleaning at my house, but in between...a little bit of art play is called for. And so I am offering up these five cards for your preview and the opportunity to rank them according to your favorites. This will help me in terms of production for the summer Sawdust Art Festival this year so your input is greatly appreciated.

AH, SPRINGTIME...ENDLESS POSSIBILITIES

 

Having a lot of fun with these bleeding tissue papers. Different sizes and shapes and vast amounts of possible play. The fun playtime got me thinking of missed workshops, missed camaraderie of friends together creating....and so...a possibility was born and the first workshop of 2021 is scheduled and full with safety in mind throughout all the planning. It does the heart good for sure!!

In the meantime, I will continue keeping the post office in business by creating and sending cards. 

There are so many lovely days of springtime ahead...what are your endless possibilities??

SERIOUSLY?

This one really got me wondering: How could it be possible that both of the chair halves would not be on this card any longer when it arrived?? And after all my whole-hearted support of the USPS too.  Hmmmmm

And to take it a step further, is this some sort of omen? Does this mean that our two political parties will not be able to sit down together to work things out? So far the two sides don't often even seem in the same conversation, but.....

I remain hopeful. At least until I am not.

SERIOUSLY??

Guess I need to begin today's blog by making an apology for any strangeness. Google has really changed the entire way one posts and I find it really strange. It's all kind of a mess (somewhat like the pile of pieces on my workspace today.) Like the strangeness of the smoke-filled air has an effect on many of this is that is unsettling (like we need anything more to be unsettling in these troubling times) the strangeness of the new format is kind of pushing my buttons.

I'm sure that eventually I will get some kind of a handle on this and just like learning to live with issues of Covid-19, there will be ways not only to survive but to thrive . In the meantime, though, I've just gotta say, "Seriously?"

 

IN A FOG OR A FUG

DEJA VU

After a night filled with wakefulness we awoke here in Laguna to grey skies that just never dissipated. Put me in mind to just laze with a good book, but, luckily I received an reorder for some cards I had made based on long ago art.

Betty bought one card from me at the Sawdust MANY years ago, but has decided in the interim to make it her "signature" card. I am flattered and have filled several orders for her over the years.

But, alas! I am now just too far down the line computer-wise from the original image file. This meant I had to do some quick thinking and finally found a way to retrieve and fill her order. WHEW!

The lesson for me? Don't always be moving on so fast. You never know when an old image will be someone's fave.
