ONE IN EVERY CORNER, PLEASE

While I know my version is a bit irreverant....as the situation across the US and the world seems only to worsen, we could probably all use an angel in every corner to watch over us.
Please, everyone, stay safe and care for each other (to help out those angels)

IT'S A BEAUTIFUL DAY IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD, BUT.....

Glorious day
It's a pretty phenomenal day outside after yesterday's light rainfall. Super spring weathery! AND I'm STILL in a crabby mood. I accept it and move on. Every day just can't be emotionally lovely, right?

Camillia's angel

On another note, though, I received this fun angel from student Camillia yesterday. The angels just keep trickling in 😃 If you have done one, don't hesitate to send it my way. And Camillia did a smart thing. She copied her angel so that she can use it for many cards or other.
Good thinking!

What are you doing to keep busy and in touch even when not in a great mood?

ANGEL FLIGHT TWO

Exuding calm
Thank you, Dianna, for this serene expression. In this time where so many experience frustration at almost every turn, she is a welcome reminder.

One of the things I like about all of this is that there is opportunity to re-think so many of the ways we have been accustomed to doing things. It calls for some ingenuity, some calm, some kindness--both to self and others--and good old fashioned buckling down.

It is important, I think, to be grateful for what we do have, to get some exercise daily, to laugh, to stay in touch however we can...and, of course, to wash our hands LOTS.

ANGEL FLIGHT

First angel in
After posting the blog about angels the other day and then sending out a request to some students...
nothing happened.

It is so hard to have patience in these troubled times, so I figure this was a challenge and a test for me. All good things come to those....

So here is the first one. It flew in from Phoenix, Arizona from Gloria Gardner. I like the whimsy of it and hope you do too.

Anybody else participating?

ANGELS ABOUND

With the stay at home order in place here throughout California many of us will have plenty of time on our hands for creative play. It occurred to me that to mark this moment in history I might add to my collection of angel cards with one somehow commemorating the coronavirus and the effect it has on our lives.

Then...the AHA moment! Why not ask my many students who have taken a workshop where we made these to create their own and share with all the rest of us.

And, then, going further, why not extend this even further out, broadening the circle. So if anyone reading this wants to participate, you are definitely invited to do so.

Angels can be posted on your Instagram, here in comments, on Facebook, or you can send them to me and I will be happy to post. Email to emmagine@cox.net

We all need more angels, right?

SLOWING IT DOWN

Finally! In creating a new angel to add to the collection I finally slowed enough to remember to document the steps.
Materials ready!

The first step was to gather some magazines and, of course, my trusty scissors. Since this was to be a Valentine angel I knew I would need some great reds. And so I began.

The first pieces are usually the head, arms, and legs. Often, the hair is the very last, but this time a special piece just called out to me.

Now all the pieces are gathered. The wings and several other pieces were found by perusing an art catalog. Time to decide just how to place them.

This is the first placement. As I attach the various pieces some things tend to change, but placing the parts on the watercolor paper to start at least gives me a general idea of where I am going.

The pieces are all adhered now. Sometimes I use glue, sometimes matte medium. If using the medium, I recommend spritzing with a bit of water and using a brayer (I use a brayer to smooth pieces as I go in any case.)

Now to the final step, which is to outline with a fine pen. I like Faber Castell PITT artist pen SX.

Ta-da!

ANGELS ABOUND!

So many angels
It would seem I have made enough collage angels what with the Sawdust Winter Fantasy ending this weekend, but I have more ideas and materials are all lined up to make more this weekend. Besides, everybody needs an angel and has their own specifics, right?
At any rate, come down to join in the fun, the music, the good food, and the many great artistic possibilities for gift giving. We are open from 10 to 7 both Saturday and Sunday.
And if you need tickets, just let me know.

ANGELS IN MY CORNER

Many of us know that angels come in different forms when we are in times of need.
I am having such a joyfully fun time creating these fun collage angels. It all started with time on my hands. Then, just two magazines off of a rack. Scissors, a piece of deli paper, a variety of small tubes of paint, and a black outlining pen finished up the pieces needed for the project. Watercolor paper was of course needed for the base piece.
Then...let the fun begin!
Now there are 30 completed collage angels. Some of the originals are being framed. Others are prints and/or cards. All will be ready for the Sawdust Festival's Winter Fantasy.
I feel blessed to be able to have so much fun creating art...and angels :)
